This book is great for looking up dish patterns. I have gotten many old dishes from my mother-in-law and have bought some of the dishes on auction websites. I wanted to know more about the dishes so this book came in handy. These beautiful dishes were made in the US so it's very nice to read about the people who started the company.The only bad part about the book is the pictures are a little too small, I would have liked to have seen bigger pictures, but otherwise it is great book.
The book was great!! Lots of pictures and information and easy to follow. I was able to learn more about my collection.
This is the most recent, and most thorough book on the subject of the Harker Pottery, which began its life in East Liverpool Ohio, and finished in Chester, West Virginia, just across the Ohio River. The company played its part in helping this tri-state area become the nation's Pottery Capital from the 1880s to the present. The book will be of interest to collectors of Harker and other American pottery, descendants of the family, and history buffs in general. The authors have compiled the most exhaustive collection of Harker backstamps in existence as well - over two hundred of them, compared with dozens found in earlier books. For anyone interested in the rise and fall of one American company from the early years in the mid 19th century through the latter half of the 20th, this is a wonderful book. It will also be a great book for all interested in the changing tastes of the American consumer during the same time period. The color photographs are clear, the text interesting...I have nothing but praise for this book.
