**I was provided an eARC of this novel from the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review**I loved what the first book in this series did to break so many barriers and cliches. There are two female leads and although romance has its place in the book, friendship is at the core. The first book was all about good and evil. This book tackles boys and girls. There are inherit difficulties in dealing with gender. There are so many preconceived gender stereotypes and although I think Soman Chainani addresses them well, I wish there would have been more breaking of the cliches. The school from the first novel is back with a few changes. This series has a Harry Potter feel, but is more fantastical than grounded. It also doesn't take the time to build the characters over seven books. A lot happens and changes just in these two books. This series is definitely action packed. The story alternates between Sophie and Agatha's perspectives, but when both characters are present I would get confused. I wish it would have been more clear with each perspective, maybe alternating chapters instead of from paragraph to paragraph. The conclusion felt very "middle book" to me and it makes sense since there is a third book in the trilogy coming out next year and I can't wait to read it! I am so excited to find out how these two girls' fairy tales will truly end. The thing that I love about this series is that it presents stereotypes in a way that makes the reader think and reevaluate. I think that is a wonderful thing for a middle grade novel. What really is Good? What makes you Evil? And can you change your "destiny"?Truthfully, this conclusion left me a little uneasy. I hope some things are resolved or unresolved in the final book. I hope the overall message is that you make yourself who you become and your actions influence how you are perceived. I also hope both Sophie and Agatha realize what true romantic love is.I give this book a 4/5 and HIGHLY recommend this series! I bought the first book for a friend's 8-year-old niece after reading it myself first. This series is a great catalyst to discussing the concepts of good, evil, destiny, love, and friendship with a middle-grade audience.

I am still crying from the end. Sophie and Agatha just have miscomunication and that results to them being ripped apart by BOYS. How could boys come between a friendship? No matter what if my friend lied to me at all I would still choose friendship instead of a BOY. I relate more to Sophie. I am always conflicting with myself between good and evil. My friends are the only ones keeping my good side winning and if all of them left me I would be consumed by evil. I still can believe this outrageous yet ingenious ending

4.5 stars. I loved this book just as much as the first! If anything it was even harder to put down! It had so many plot twists and new discoveries that I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole time while reading this. Its empowering and just as magical as the first. I definitely am picking up the third book right away and will be sad to see this world come to a close.

i love all four books and cant wait until the next one comes out. i am 11 yearsold and have been reading these since i was 9. i have read them over and over again. just one small problem, hesters scedual does not fit her classes. its just a small problem and does not realy matter. keep writing and doing what you do. thanks for making these amazing books.

All I have to say about this book is wow. The end *SPOILER ALERT* When the School Master came back is SO not what I expected. But that just made the book better XD. So I would recommend reading this... Its really well written, interesting, funny, and basically everything I like in a book. 5 stars!!!

This one was.... awful, honestly, and I wish I hadn't continued the series-- The ending of the first book had been so nice. But now I love Sophie even more, and I have to see where her story leads. God. I love this distressed baby lesbian. But honestly if I have to read one more word about how girls NEED boys, or that girls can't be each others' true loves, I'm going to scream my damn head off.Honestly, though, Sophie needs, like, better friends.

My 11 year old loves the series. She read the first 3 books in the series in less than 2 months. The series have generated ideas for her and her friends which helped them write their own stories on QuoteV.com

OMG! This book couldn't get any better! I was excited to read it after the first book, but I never expected what happened. This book is absolutely terrific. It seemed that it was only Agathas wish to worry about. Guess what? Wrong! Totally recommend this book! :)

My daughter liked how descriptive it was. She thought it had a lot of attention grabbing sections.
